Honor System
Airline
AIRLINE contains one playing board, one die, four separate packs of 'Flight Instructions Cards', six player tokens and 24 Airline Passenger tokens.
OBJECT OF GAME
The winner of the game is the 'Pilot' or player who first reaches his or home base or 'airport city' with all his or her Passengers, (Four Groups - each group representing fifty Passengers) or, alternatively, the highest number of Passengers. The winning player must have complied with all instructions collected at the start of play and during play.
TO START PLAY
Each player selects his 'City' from which he operates his airline. Once established, each player selects his 'Aircraft' token and places it at his 'City' location. All Passenger tokens are placed at NEW YORK in the centre of the board.
The player who represents Sydney commences play by rolling the die once. He must take the 'Passenger Manifest' card that corresponds to the number shown on the die. Each player continues in this manner, in a clockwise direction, until all players have collected a 'Passenger Manifest'. (The last two remaining players need not roll die for their 'Passenger Manifest', but may by agreement, accept the remaining two cards.) If a manifest has been taken by a previous player, the next player must roll again.
The game commences with the Sydney player rolling the die again. All players follow in clockwise rotation.
Each player must utilise the full score shown on each die roll. An 'Aircraft' or 'Player' token, may 'fly' in any direction, but cannot change direction in the middle of a move. He can only change direction with each new move if he so desires. All the die score must be used regardless of any inconvenience!
Players proceed directly to NEW YORK CITY, (Remember the player must throw the correct number on the die to correspond with the desired number of spaces to enter New York, or any City.) The runway square, or striped square, is not part of a square.
Upon arrival in New York each player selects a 'Flight Plan' card. The 'Flight Plan card, and the 'Passenger Manifest' card must be placed FACE UP in front of each player. The 'Flight Plan' and the 'Passenger Manifest' must be read in conjunction with each other, and the joint requirements complied with EXACTLY.
CONTINUATION OE PLAY
Players then, by rolling die in turn, endeavour to fulfill their individual 'Flight Plan' requirements. However, Air Traffic Control directives and Airline Company instructions may produce additional hazards for the 'Pilots', or conversely, may facilitate a speedier passage. All instructions so received must be read aloud by all players, and the instruction card must be retained by that player affected until the instruction thereon has been complied with. After compliance, the instruction card should be returned to the original pack.
GENERAL GAME RULES
1. 'Aircraft' move in any direction, but must move the full score shown on die
2. No two 'Aircraft' may share an airport runway (the striped square). They may share any other square or 'City' on the board.
3. Passengers 'lost' in a 'Crash' or by Air Traffic Control directive, or by Airline Company instruction are not redeemable unless a countermanding instruction is received.
4. Passengers may be placed in transit at 'City' spaces only.
5. CRASH. If a player has other Passengers anywhere on the board 'in transit', he returns to NEW YORK to continue play. After a 'crash' occurs with all or last remaining Passengers on board that Player is OUT of the game.
The player that has 'crashed' is 'out', but can possibly be returned to play if another player is given the appropriate directive from Air Traffic Control during the course of play.
